Villatehtaan portilla - At the gate of an old wool factory

Kotona

Kotikaupungissani Hyvinkäällä oli ennen iso villatehdas. Sellaista teollisuutta ei Suomessa enää paljon ole. Jäljellä on kuitenkin kauniit punatiilitalot, jotka nyt palvelevat kulttuuri- ja businesskeskuksena.

Vanha musta tehtaanportti tekee haikeaksi. Edelleen voi melkein nähdä työläisten kulkevan portista aikaisin aamulla työvaatteissaan, perjantaisin ehkä vähän kevyemmällä askeleella kotiinpäin tullessa!

 

Hometown

There use to be a woolfactory in my hometown Hyvinkää. Such industry has almost vanished from Finland. There is only beautiful brickhouses left and they now serve as a center for culture and business.

The old and black factory gate really rises nostalgia, as I can almost see the workers going through the gate in they working uniforms. On friday they probably had a little bit lighter steps towards home!

Kuvassa Riitan tekemät neuleet, huivi ja poncho. Ponchon ohje löytyy Novitan lehdestä Kevät 2012.

Huivi on tehty seuraavalla ohjeella:

1. rivi: neulo kaikki oikein
2. rivi (nurja): *1.s nosta neulomatta, 2. s neulo oikein*, *-* toista

Ja sitten vaan jatkat näitä kerroksia. Tulee hauska pinta ja vähän paksumpi neulos.

The scarf has been made with this simple design:

1. row: Knit all loops
2. row (purl): *1.lp pick up, 2.lp knit*, *-* repeat.

And then just continue these rows as long as you want. Turns out lively surface and some thicker stitch.

Haittaako raitojen epäsymmetria? Ei meitä, mutta halutessa ne on helppo myös kohdistaa.

Does the asymmetrical use of stripes bother? Not us, but it is easy to match them if needed.
